John W. Brooks Sr. Received his primary education in the Chicago/Harvey Illinois school system. After graduation from Thornton Township High School he worked for Jewels food store working several jobs ( bagger,cashier,facing,produce,frozen foods and night shift stocker). He entered the United States Marine Corps where he served as an Ammunition Technician at Camp Pendleton,California and Okinawa,Japan. After serving his country for 4 years and receiving an Honorable Discharge Mr. Brooks became a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service where he is presently employed with 40 years of service including his military service. Attended McCormick Theological Seminary. He is married to his soulmate Lesa, the father of six children (John ll,Robert, TeCara,Grant,Megan and Jade. He is the grandfather of 13.
