Our Associate Pastor

Rev. Lorrie C. Reed is Associate Pastor for Christian Education at Grace United Church of Christ.  Prior to dedicating her life to ordained ministry, she was an educator whose professional experiences included service as a secondary school teacher, educational administrator, university professor, and consultant.

Concurrently with her call at Grace UCC, she serves as Chaplain of Rivertree Christian Chapel, an independent Internet outreach initiative. She is founder of Rivertree Educational Ministries, Inc., a nonprofit organization that sponsors a Consortium for justice-minded researchers and educators. She is also founder and board member of the Juanita Fields Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization providing book scholarships to deserving college-bound students and a program offering small grants to classroom teachers seeking to be more effective in educating students in K-12 schools.

Rev. Lorrie is the author of several books and holds a Ph.D. in Research Methodology, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, a Master’s degree in Theological Studies, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Bachelor’s degree in English education. Her ministry, writing and research highlight spiritual, educational, social, and community mechanisms for reinforcing justice and inter-generational hope, healing, and resilience among all people. She is always seeking effective ways to deliver Christian education in a digital world.

She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Spending time with family is one of her favorite things to do. She lives in Chicago with Jim, her husband of more than four decades.
