Mission

The Mission of the Christian Education Department is to provide sound educational experiences based on the Word of God to empower God’s people for transformational action in their lives, their communities, and the world.

Vision

The Vision of the Christian Education Department is to promote biblical literacy and application of biblical principles of discipleship. These principles will be presented and reinforced through structured and non-structured educational programs, including Sunday school, Bible Basics classes, Thursday Evening Bible study, in addition to other thematic and applied courses of study offered on a regular basis.

Goals: The overall goal of the Christian Education Department is to deliberately cultivate and effectively teach a Bible-based, culturally relevant curriculum designed to promote justice and transformation within the body of Christ and the community at large

Sunday School

9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

The Sunday school will use a curriculum based on Precepts for Living published by Urban Ministries, Inc. (UMI). Instructional materials will be supplied for teachers and students. Instructors are encouraged to employ facilitative approaches to teaching and to engage principles of adult learning during all lessons. Training and support will be available through every phase of the teaching experience, as needed.

Thursday Bible Study

7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Thursday Evening Bible Study program will utilize the talents and gifts of a range of qualified people willing to assume teaching and leadership roles. The Department urges facilitators to encourage adult learners to actively share the challenges, experiences, and insights gained during their journey as Christians. While, the Department is considering a number of curricular options, facilitators will have opportunities to develop Bible-based lessons in response to the issues of our day. Teacher training and co-teaching opportunities are also available.

Sharing is caring!
